The History of Solar Systems Networking, Inc. People Helping People Every Step of the Way: 12 Years of Continued Success Solar Systems Networking, Inc. started as the effort of four individuals to create a network design company focused on management of network needs for small businesses and educational systems. After running as a successful partnership for six years, what started out as Solar Systems in September 1994, became Solar Systems Networking, Inc., a C class corporation. Original partner and financial director, Lucy Fanger, became Chairperson of the board as well as Treasurer. Ken Fanger, another original partner, became President. Solar Systems Networking, Inc. continued to support its existing contracts in IT networking and Project Management and continued to grow. In August of 1997, Solar Systems Networking, Inc. designed and implemented the wireless network for Cuyahoga Heights City Schools. This was the first successful wireless network in a public school system in the state of Ohio. Our President Ken Fanger, a CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator), was directly responsible for this project, which lead to the creation of our Wireless Solutions division. In May 2002, Solar Systems Networking, Inc. started a new product line called Net-Wise®. This product is a wireless solution to provide hotels, apartments, libraries, schools systems, and communities with wireless access for public usage. Net-Wise® was started as a response to the needs of several of our clients to economically distribute Internet service throughout large building areas. After looking at wiring those locations, it became clear that “wireless” solutions would allow much better coverage with lower cost. Net-Wise® allows public facilities to offer guests and residents managed access to Internet services. This product, combined with Solar Systems Networking, Inc.’s existing suite of network design and implementation services, allows us to continue our commitment to providing the best network solutions for our customers. In January 2004, Lucy Fanger became CEO of Solar Systems Networking, Inc. Later that year, she decided to increase our ability to reach government contracts. To that end, Solar Systems Networking, Inc. began to register with local, state, and federal organizations. This step, along with our status as a small/woman-owned business, positioned us for very large government opportunities. We are currently certified FBE, SBE, EDGE, GSA Schedule 70, and STS as a result. We are also certified as a vendor for the cities of Akron, Cleveland, and Columbus as well as with Cuyahoga County. In September 2005, working with the Mayor of Berea and the Cuyahoga County Libraries, we enabled our first “smart community,” providing external wireless access to the Berea community park around Coe Lake. Shortly thereafter, we joined forces with Cafe Ah-Roma to provide free wireless service to the downtown area of Berea. These projects represent a new direction for the Net-Wise® product line, and we are currently in discussions to enable more “smart communities” within Northeast Ohio. During 2005, we restructured our services to hone-in on our areas of expertise and to ensure that we continue to provide the best value to our customers. In addition to our expertise in designing networks and delivering wireless solutions, we provided successful project management and customer service to our customers over the past decade. At Solar Systems Networking, Inc., we understand that technology is just a tool to get you where you need to go, and is often only a component in the total solution. What sets Solar Systems Networking, Inc. apart from our competitors is that we have always focused on creating success for our customers, which starts by truly caring and focusing on understanding our customer’s needs, followed by designing solutions to meet them, and then ensuring that the end result meets or exceeds those expectations. This is what we mean when we say, “People Helping People Every Step of the Way”. It says everything about who we are and how we relate to you. To that end, we have formed Solar Systems Managed Solutions as a division of Solar Systems Networking, Inc. and have brought onboard additional staff with experience in business analysis, business development services, and management of non-IT projects. Our Solar Systems Managed Solutions division supports our continued mission to focus on creating success for our customers and enables us to provide complete business analysis and project management solutions, for both IT and non-IT related needs. Solar Systems Networking, Inc. has also formed alliances and partnerships with a variety of other small businesses in the Northeast Ohio area, which provide a diverse array of deep expertise in specific technical and business services. As a small business, we understand that we cannot be all things to all people, and that large project management companies must pass on large costs to their customers in order to carry breadth of expertise in-house. The partnerships we have formed, allow Solar Systems Networking, Inc. to provide the same full-service solutions and expertise without all the overhead and cost of a large organization. By focusing on our expertise in project management and business analysis, our experience and relationships in vendor management allow us to easily match the right skill-sets to truly meet our customer’s needs. This way, our customer’s get the best value solution that is right for them – combining the personal attention and caring of a small business with experience matched and managed to meet their needs. Therefore, the Solar Systems Networking, Inc. of today has expanded significantly from its traditional IT-networking roots, to the three core competency areas of expertise it provides today: Technology Solutions, Wireless Solutions, and Managed Solutions. The full array of services we provide are designed to provide a complete end-to-end solution to meet our various customer’s business and technology needs. Our client base has expanded from its government roots of school systems and cities to all levels of local, state, and federal government, and our business clientele has expanded from several small/mid-sized businesses to include a broad range of industries, from hotels to non-profit organizations to start-up companies. Our Vision Statement Our Mission Statement Our Company Values Our Motto
